Gensler
Sustainability Strategist(s) (full-time, multiple openings) needed in New York, New York to lead and guide sustainability focused project work including performing analytics to optimize building performance, coordination and documentation of sustainable and wellbeing certifications, and sustainable strategy identification and goal setting for single projects and portfolios of buildings. Assist in implementing firmwide sustainability goals within the New York region, staying up to date with current industry trends, research, and New York-specific sustainability-related building codes and initiatives. Participate in workflow planning, coordination, and administration for multi-disciplinary project teams of designers, consultants, and other stakeholders to generate transformative ideas and implementable strategies. Analyze complex information from multiple sources to determine impact on clients’ projects and organizational goals, and/or performance criteria for sustainable design solutions. Synthesize information and data into narratives told through presentations and reports. Develop compelling communications that help clients to visualize and understand the benefits and implications of our strategies and recommendations for project work including certification management, cost-benefit analysis, carbon calculations and feasibility studies for projects of a variety of types and sizes.
Must have a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, Design Studies, Building Science, Environmental Sustainability, Environmental Design, or related field, plus two (2) years of design experience (non-intern, non-fellowship) with all of the following:
1. Work experience with managing the certification process, providing design guidance on projects pursuing Passive House, LEED, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel Certification, and Net Zero Building Certification;
2. Work experience specific to financial services, education, developer and technology clients and design teams to establish sustainable design and project certification goals employing feasibility analysis to facilitate goal setting;
3. Designing and facilitating work sessions with clients and design teams to build consensus on sustainable design solutions and coordinating with project design teams to provide sustainable design guidance and technical support and certification process management;
4. Energy modeling with OpenStudio, DesignBuilder and WUFI Passive, thermal bridging analysis with Therm, solar photovoltaic (PV) feasibility with PV Watts and using the findings to develop energy saving measures.
5. Reviewing and detailing facade and building envelopes and conducting on-site inspections to ensure thermal performance, solar radiation and glare mitigation goals are being met;
6. Coordinating the work of multiple consultants including lighting consultants, solar photovoltaic (PV) consultant, energy modeler, geo-tech, structural, civil, and MEP engineers to deliver project sustainability goals; AND
7. Work experience with sustainable material research, specifications editing and technologies, tools, and methods as they impact the delivery of green building design and with Federal, State, and local regulations and incentives to provide guidance to clients.
In the alternative, we will accept a Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, Design Studies, Building Science, Environmental Sustainability, Environmental Design, or related field, plus five (5) years of progressive post-bachelor’s degree design experience (non-intern, non-fellowship). Two (2) years of the five (5) years of progressive post bachelor’s degree design experience (non-intern, non-fellowship) must include experience with all of the following:
1. Work experience with managing the certification process, providing design guidance on projects pursuing Passive House, LEED, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel Certification, and Net Zero Building Certification;

All experience may be acquired concurrently. Incidental telecommuting may apply. Standard benefits will be offered, and employees will be eligible for bonuses.
The base salary range is $118,227.00 to $118,500.00, commensurate with relevant experience.
