The Flynn Lab investigates fundamental questions at the intersection of RNA biology and glycobiology. We are hiring for a Staff Scientist position which is intended to be a long-term project-focused position with some effort on operating laboratory features. Specifically, we are looking for someone with experience in the RNA, molecular, and cell biology fields who will be expected to manage long term scientific projects in the lab that could span topics including how glycoRNAs are made, what their functional roles are, and more generally topics concerning cell surface biology and biochemistry. This will occur through direct communication and mentoring with the PI. Outside of the scientific efforts, this individual will work with the PI to maintain lab organization and operations which is expected to take ~20% of the individuals time (per week).
Key Responsibilities
- Working with the PI to design and perform wet-lab experiments
- Working with the PI to analyze the above experiments
- Working with the PI to organize the lab orders and stocks of reagents
- Working with the PI to organize lab events (e.g. lab meetings)
- Working with the PI to organize cross-project responsibilities (meeting times, shipping items, etc.)
- Working with the PI to train new lab members in web-lab skills know by the Staff Scientist
Minimum Qualifications
education:
- Master’s Degree
Experience:
- At least 7 years of relevant research of experience.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture, molecular biology assays and chemical biology skills
- Prior use of FACS machines and microscopes would be ideal
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
