We’re Hiring: Fundraising and Grants Writer (Part-Time, 24hrs per week, Hybrid/Remote)

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive team member to join the Ecology Centre, an inclusive, community-led charity in Kinghorn, Fife, with experience in fundraising or grant writing, strong research skills, and the ability to produce clear, persuasive applications.

The ideal person is organised, detail‑focused, confident communicating with funders, and able to work independently.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a committed, values-led individual, ideally with professional experience in fundraising, grant writing or income generation, who is motivated by nature, community and sustainability. However, formal experience matters less to us than enthusiasm, initiative and the ability to write persuasively. If you’ve raised money successfully for a cause you care about, even informally, we’d like to hear from you. You will strengthen trusts, foundations and grant-based fundraising systems and relationships so that the Board, Management and delivery teams can focus on creating an impact on the surrounding ecology.

With the aid of a dedicated Trustee with fundraising experience, you will learn to be a strategic thinker and help and support us to move from short-term, reactive fundraising to a more sustainable and planned approach.

This is an essential role, focused on funding quality and long-term financial sustainability — not ad hoc applications.

You should have

• At least 2-3 years’ experience in fundraising, bid writing, income generation or a related field
• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to translate delivery work into clear, compelling funding narratives
• Experience researching, developing or coordinating funding applications
• Understanding of compliance, reporting and funder requirements
• Strategic thinking combined with practical, delivery-aware judgement
• Confidence working in a collaborative, inclusive and values-led organisation
• An interest in nature, sustainability, community wellbeing or social impact

Experience in charities, CICs or social enterprises is highly valued but not essential.

For this role specifically, it is desirable if you have experience in:

• Trusts and foundations fundraising
• Bid development, grant writing or proposal review
• Reporting against outcomes and budgets

You will help set the direction of the organisation, lead strategic and business planning, and will work closely with our engaged staff management team to shape a resilient, well‑governed charity making a tangible local environmental impact.

What will you be doing?

Along with our existing, dedicated Management Team and Board of Trustees, you will help to drive the present and future of the charity to achieve its mission.
