Responsibilities

Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is seeking an Environmental Technician to join our Industrial Hygiene team. You will observe and begin to perform routine field tests on a per project basis as assigned by others. Work will be field based. The ideal candidate presents a positive customer service attitude and understanding of ECS Core Values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct air monitoring for asbestos, lead, mold and other potential workplace environmental hazards during abatement, renovation, and demolition operations.
  • Perform asbestos containing material, lead-based paint, and mold and moisture assessments in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings in compliance with EPA, OSHA, and state regulations.
  • Collect field data, including sample locations, environmental conditions, equipment calibration information, and observations, using field forms and electronic data systems.
  • Properly handle, label, and chain of custody environmental samples and coordinate laboratory submittals for analysis.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and properly use field equipment, including air sampling pumps and inspection tools.
  • Obtain and maintain required licenses and certifications related to industrial hygiene work.
  • Progressive learning about field sampling of various media while working both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Daily communication is required with other ECS technicians and project managers and as directed, site representatives.
  • Attend project meetings with senior staff as requested
  • Progressive understanding of relevant calculations, data reduction of test results, drafting, and other administrative duties.
  • Learn to calibrate and use field equipment and document readings appropriately.
  • Incidental duties include office clerical tasks, report production assistance and other office related tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • No experience necessary
  • If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must be able to provide suitable transportation for use on job sites – Mileage will be reimbursed

Skills and Abilities

  • Very limited to no knowledge of environmental principles, applications, and testing standards
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds a number of times each day and walk on uneven ground through various terrains.
  • Ability to complete daily field reports detailing site activities and observations with directions and training provided.

  • The following US Military ranks would qualify for this position:
    • E-4
