Environmental Engineering/Geology Intern – Summer 2027
Location: Grand Rapids or Kalamazoo, Michigan
Employment Type: Full-Time Internship
For over 70 years Fishbeck has been building. As a 100% employee-owned firm, every team member has a stake in what we build together-our work, our reputation, and our future. Now we need to add an Environmental Intern to help us keep building.
As part of our GeoSciences and Remediation team, you will gain hands-on field and office experience. Your work setting will include in the field, collecting environmental-related samples and overseeing drilling, and in the office, assisting with environmental data analysis and report development.
What You’ll Do
  • Collect groundwater, surface water, soil, and vapor samples in diverse field settings throughout Michigan.
  • Analyze data collected in the field to support project decisions.
  • Assist in drafting a variety of environmental reports.
  • Collaborate with engineers and geologists on consulting projects.
  • Participate in site visits and fieldwork to gather real-world experience.
What We’re Looking For
  • Currently enrolled in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or a related program.
  • Curious, analytical mindset with a passion for environmental work.
  • Comfortable working independently and asking thoughtful questions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
  • Previous field or lab experience is a plus.
