Job Title: Bench Scientist – II
Location: Cambridge, MA
Duration: 24 months
Work Schedule
* Primarily onsite laboratory-based position
* Standard 8-hour workday
* Limited remote work flexibility may be available when appropriate
Key Responsibilities

  • Perform recombinant protein purification using established laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Execute multiple protein purification projects simultaneously following training.
  • Conduct protein quality control (QC) testing and analytical characterization.
  • Support biophysical analyses to evaluate protein properties and performance.
  • Collaborate with a larger team responsible for antigen generation and biotherapeutic research.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
  • Assist with additional laboratory activities as needed, including:

o Protein expression
o Stable cell line development
o Cell culture activities
o DNA-related workflows
* Follow laboratory safety procedures and regulatory requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Immunology, or a related scientific discipline with relevant laboratory experience.
  • Hands-on experience with protein purification techniques.
  • Strong understanding of protein biology and biochemical principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new techniques quickly and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience purifying recombinant proteins, working with AKTA FPLC and Agilent HPLC.
  • Experience labeling proteins and working with antibodies is a plus.
  • Experience with tissue culture is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
  • Experience with:
    o Protein biochemistry
    o Biophysical characterization techniques
    o Immunology
    o Antibody-related research
    o Mammalian cell culture
    o Stable cell line generation
    o Recombinant protein expression
  • Prior experience working in a research or biotechnology laboratory environment.

Laboratory & Safety Requirements

  • Work with tissue culture cells and standard biological research materials
    Required use of PPE, including:
    o Lab coat
    o Safety goggles
    o Gloves
  • No unusual hazardous material exposure beyond standard laboratory operations

Interview Process

  • Initial virtual screening interview with the Hiring Manager
  • Onsite final interview consisting of:
    o One-on-one discussion with the Hiring Manager
    o Panel interviews with members of the broader research team
