position DESCRIPTION 

A Safety Manager at SET Environmental is responsible for: 

  • Develop and implement effective processes and programs intended to reduce safety risk to SET employees and other stakeholders              
  • Develop, review and update safety and health programs and procedures for SET and SET clients 
  • Assist in measuring safety performance of employees and communicating performance to management 
  • Help establish, update, and conduct safety program orientation and training for new and current employees      
  • Oversee and participates in the safety inspection / audit program 
  • Identify and analyze recognized workplace hazards and implement corrective actions to minimize occurrence and severity of incidents and injuries 
  • Perform accident, incident and injury investigations 
  • Conduct and assist with regularly scheduled safety meetings at Chicago area managed locations 
  • Assist with development, review and revision of SET safety incentive and employee recognition programs 
  • Continually pursue increased knowledge, skills and professional development 
  • Monitor OSHA, DOT and EPA requirements on an ongoing basis to ensure SET compliance with applicable regulations  
  • Will perform other miscellaneous duties as necessary 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with minimum of five (5) years related experience in hazardous materials or safety field 
  • Knowledge of and ability to use effective management principles including leadership, planning, and proven ability to successfully implement policy, programs or directives 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • High degree of enthusiasm and self-motivation 
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail 
  • Certification in Safety and Hazardous Materials field, such as: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) and Certified Environmental Trainer (CET) 
  • Good working knowledge of OSHA, DOT and RCRA regulations 
  • Ability to develop and maintain a positive attitude towards safety within all levels of the organization
